THE DIRECTOR OF SAMSUNG SENTENCED TO FIVE YEARS IN JAIL

One court in South Korea has sentenced a five-year prison sentence to the General Director and Samsung successor Lee Jae-yong after being convicted of corruption and misuse of public property.

Lee was accused of bribery allegedly providing $ 36 million worth of aid to a non-governmental organization led by Choi Soon-sil, a former Korean co-ordinator of Park Geun-hye for political gain.

Due to the suspicion of corruption, Lee was arrested and imprisoned since February. The scandal led to protesting against the state-owned President Park.

Lee's lawyer, Song Wu-cheol, said they expected to appeal against the judgment, believing that the court could withdraw them.
